Football Update - 8.02.18

On Thursday 8th February the Lawnswood Campus Football Team travelled over to Sandwell Community School.  Braybrook PE Teacher, Mr Cundy, gives us the match report:

“I just wanted to say how incredibly proud we all are of the football team today. Having had 14 players the night before, I only had 8 players come 8 o’clock in the morning, all due to various circumstances. However, the positive attitude from everyone who did play, despite the lack of numbers was amazing to see.

We took the lead through a fantastic long range shot from Corey and despite the fact that we were playing the best team in the league, we were only 2-1 down at half time. It was their ability to keep working hard, sticking together as a team and trying to win every ball that was really impressive. Having gone 4-1 down early in the second half, they still pulled it back to 4-2 through a great solo effort from Carlos.

I am certain that if we had our original team we would have won today, but more importantly if we had a full team, I would never have known how much character the lads who did play really have. It would have been very easy to throw the towel in given the circumstances, but they didn’t and played incredibly well. We have now won 1 game, drawn 1 and lost 2 in the league, but in many ways this was our best performance of the season.

Can I thank you all for supporting the Lawnswood team in terms of training and matches too. Without your support these types of outcomes wouldn’t be possible."
